We offer a great opportunity for a Project Manager in Product Development to support us in the development of New Products. The Project Manager in Product Development plays a key role with ensuring the interface between the Commercial team (Sales, Marketing, CTS …) and  the other departments, partners in the product development projects, as Quality & Metallurgy, Process or R&D Departments. This position is responsible for engaging all phases of product development, including collecting and analyzing the customer needs according to the final use and the associated requirements, identifying the key specifications for the product industrialization and supporting the Customer Technical Support team in the product implementation in service. The Project Manager in Product Development drives the projects and coordinates adherence to project milestones with the ultimate objective of delivering projects as scheduled. The Project Manager is responsible for monitoring, summarizing and communicating the progress of projects. Being capable of working at the interface of multi-departments, fast learner and very good communicant is essential.

Specific Responsabilities :

The Project Manager in Product Development will …

  • Be responsible for driving product developments in accordance with the New Product Development (NPD) Process, a process designed to manage and steer products through the product development cycle
  • Develop project plans according to the NPD process and apply Project Management skills to drive assigned projects; that includes holding regular cross functional meetings and reporting progress
  • Fix activities and associated schedule per project with all other project partners (Sales, Marketing, CTS, Quality & Metallurgy, Process, R&D …), adjust them when required
  • Ensure the collection of the relevant data about final application, processing and aimed product for the project design and product industrialization
  • Identify the project risks and manage them with the project partners
  • Assist the Quality & Metallurgy and Process Departments in the prototype set up and testing
  • Collaborate with the CTS engineers for the follow-up of the New product implementation in service.
  • Review and update the product specifications according to the return from in-service testing
  • Ensure that the deliverables are achieved on time, at the required quality level
  • Secure that all the project information are suitably documented and saved
  • Stay focused on the critical points and project leading indicator with driving suitable action plan with the project partners

Required skills and experience :

  • Doctor or Engineer in Material Sciences, preferentially in Metallurgy, or Mechanics
  • Strong scientific and technical background in Metallurgy, Mechanics or Steel processing
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in project management, leading projects up to successful results 
  • Detail oriented, time management and  communication skills
  • Able to prioritize tasks while remaining flexible to the dynamic needs and changes of projects
  • Capable of working within a multifunctional team environment
  • Fluent in English and French
  • Ability to travel up to 10%-15%
  • Location in Belgium (La Louvière).
