Based in La Louvière, Belgium

The CFD Modelling Engineer will work in project teams, in close collaboration with production, maintenance and technical sales on industrial R&D problems.

Projects cover all areas of steel production from mineral processing to ironmaking, steelmaking, rolling and galvanizing. The composition of project teams is adjusted to project needs and scope.

The CFD Modelling Engineer will have opportunity to contribute to a number of different projects on product and process development.

Main tasks

  • Expert contribution to research and development projects aimed at new product development or optimization of production processes
  • Development of sophisticated computer models of metallurgy processes
  • Contribute to development of external partner network, both from academia and industry


  • PhD in Material Sciences, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Metallurgy
  • 3+ years of experience in CFD modelling for the steel industry
  • Experience in modelling of steel production processes (e.g. Blast Furnace, Steel Making, Continuous Casting, Hot Rolling, Continuous and Batch Annealing)


  • CFD Software (e.g. ANSYS Fluent/CFX, OpenFOAM, Star CCM+)
  • Programming (e.g. python, C/C++, Fortran)
  • Languages: Excellent English / French is a plus
